The Visa Process

Applying for an Australian student visa is a complex and multi stage job. You may like to use the services of some education consultant for this. For your convenience we have highlighted some of steps of this visa process.

You should consider starting the Australian student visa process ONLY when you have received all the basic information about the visa requirements and also fulfilled those requirements.

1. First of all you need to get admission in a recognized Australian school/college/institute/university.Then you should choose the correct student visa type which suits your situation.

2. Then you should check your visa assessment level. Your passport country and course(s) of study determine your Assessment Level. More information about Student visa Assessment Levels is available.

You may be eligible for streamlined visa processing if you have a Confirmation of Enrolment from a participating university in Australia for a bachelor degree, masters degree, doctoral degree, non-award study abroad program or non-award university student exchange program.

Under the streamlined student visa processing arrangements eligible student visa applicants from participating universities are assessed as though they are a lower immigration risk, irrespective of their country of origin. If you are eligible for streamlined student visa processing you are not assigned an Assessment Level.

This is because under the streamlined visa processing arrangements a student visa applicant is determined to be low immigration risk.If you are eligible for streamlined student visa processing you will generally have reduced evidentiary requirements when applying for a student visa.

3. You should check when your course is starting. This is very important because this will determin the timing of lodging our visa application.

4. Complete the visa application. When you lodge your application, it is important that you include all the required documents with your application. Lodging a complete application assists case officers to quickly process your application.

5. Pay the application fee. All charges shown below are in Australian Dollars (AUD). You can pay this amount in Pak Rs. in the form of a bank draft.Visa applications may be lodged at one of the Australian Visa Application Centres (AVAC) in Pakistan. The AVAC accepts payments in bank draft only. 6. Make an appointment with the AVAC to lodge your application and submit your biometrics. All applicants must make an appointment either online or by phone before attending the visa application centre. As part of the visa application procedure, you will need to provide electronic fingerprint data along with a digital photograph. If you have temporary injuries on your fingers, please wait until the injuries have healed before you book your appointment.

7. Lodge your visa application and submit your biometrics at the AVAC. The Australian Visa Office may contact you to request additional information. From 2 April 2013, student visa applicants who are Afghan or Pakistan nationals living in Pakistan can submit their applications and provide their biometrics at an AVAC in Pakistan. Previously, it has only been possible to submit a student visa application directly to the Adelaide Offshore Student Processing Centre in Australia. Applications submitted through an AVAC,will be couriered securely to the Adelaide Offshore Student Processing Centre in Australia within seven days.

Submission of biometrics at the same time as submission of complete student visa applications through an AVAC offers the simplest, most efficient and cost effective lodgement option for student visa applicants in Pakistan. Alternatively if applications are lodged directly with the Adelaide Offshore Student Processing Centre in Australia, applicants will be sent a requirement letter to go to one of the AVACs in Pakistan to provide their biometrics, while the case is being assessed. This may mean it takes longer to finalise a visa application.
